How to Craft a High-Converting WhatsApp Template for Your Sales

Last Updated: 27 May 2025

We often get asked if there are sample sale templates available. While Spur doesn’t offer a template library, we can help you create a high-performing marketing message that also gets approved by Meta.

Got an amazing discount coming up? Great! But even the most exciting deal can flop if your message doesn’t resonate with your target audience. On a largely personal messaging platform like WhatsApp, how you say something is just as important as what you’re offering.

This guide will walk you through:

  • Writing a compelling sale template from scratch
  • Avoiding common pitfalls
  • Maximizing the returns on your WhatsApp sale broadcasts

If you want your WhatsApp sale message to both convert and get approved by Meta, you’ll need to strike a balance between psychology, clarity, and compliance. Here’s how to nail it:

1. Say More by Saying Less (Focus + Simplicity)

Keep your message tight — ideally under 5 lines.

Your offer, benefit, and CTA should be visible before the “Read more” fold.

WhatsApp truncates messages after 5 lines — so lead with your best shot.

Example: ✨ Flat 30% OFF all weekend. No code needed. Bestseller prints now restocked — sizes going fast. ⏳ Sale ends Sunday midnight. [Shop Now]

2. Make It Actionable and Urgent

Tap into FOMO, urgency, and impulse behavior. A good template triggers action without sounding desperate.

Use verbs: Shop, Tap, Grab, Claim Add time limits or stock scarcity: “Only 12 left!”, “Ends in 24 hrs!”

✅: “Tap below to grab your offer now” ❌: “Check out our store if you’re interested maybe”

3. Emojis: Enhance, Don’t Hijack

Use selective emojis to boost tone and draw the eye. Don’t use emojis in place of full sentences or stack multiple together.

Do: ✨ New Drop: Summer Glow Set Dont: 🔥🔥🔥 OMG 🛍️🎉😱😱

4. Structure It Visually (Spacing + Flow)

Use line breaks between thoughts.

Avoid dense blocks or walls of text — especially if you’re making multiple points.

Think of each line as a scroll-stopping beat.

5. Use a Visual Hook (Header Image or Video)

A compelling image does what a thousand CTAs can’t. Meta allows one image header — use it smartly.

Best visual options:

  • A hero image of your bestselling/new product
  • A clean discount banner
  • Festive/seasonal design (e.g., Diwali, Eid, Summer Sale)

6. Ditch Long URLs — Use CTA Buttons Avoid dropping links directly into the message body. Instead, use Meta’s CTA button feature (like “Shop Now”, “Explore Collection”).

✅ Button: “View Offer” ❌ https://yourstore.com/sale/clearance/women/jumpsuits?id=3412

✅ 7. Stick to One Message, One CTA

Meta penalizes “template stuffing.”

  • Avoid combining 3 offers in one message.
  • Avoid saying “Click here, also use this code, and sign up too!”

Stick to one core message and one clear action.

8. Include Trust Builders (Optional but Powerful)

If relevant, lightly mention:

  • Best-sellers: “Now back in stock!”
  • Popular choices: “Trending with 10k+ shoppers”

These create subtle social proof without sounding salesy.

9. Avoid Meta Red Flags

Meta auto-flags your template for reclassification if you:

  • Use ALL CAPS or excessive punctuation (!!!!)
  • Embellish discounts dishonestly (e.g. “100% OFF” or “Everything Free!”)
  • Bury promo codes or put multiple URLs in the body

If it promotes anything commercial — always file under Marketing, not Utility.

10. Refresh Often to Prevent Creative Fatigue

Meta suggests refreshing templates every few weeks. A fresh tone = better engagement.

And what worked two months ago may not be effective anymore.

Your WhatsApp sale broadcast is a mini pitch. Every word counts. Here’s how to build one that gets clicks (and conversions):

1. The Hook (The First Line)

Stop the scroll. Grab attention with something punchy: a question, a bold claim, or exciting news.

Examples:

  • Biggest Sale of the Year is LIVE!
  • Just Dropped: Brand New Collection!
  • Tired of your wardrobe? Let’s fix that.

2. The Offer (Be Specific)

Don’t be vague. Say exactly what the deal is. The more precise you are, the better your chances of getting approved and getting clicks.

Examples:

  • Get 20% OFF on all dresses
  • Flat ₹500 OFF when you shop over ₹2000
  • FREE Shipping all weekend

3. The Urgency

Create pressure. Make it clear that time’s running out, or that stock is limited.

Examples:

  • Offer ends Sunday at midnight
  • Only 48 hours left
  • 100 pieces only, don’t wait

4. Call-to-Action (with Button)

Tell the reader exactly what to do. Keep the CTA simple, and make sure the button link goes to the right place.

CTA Button Text Ideas:

  • Shop Now
  • Claim Offer
  • View Collection
  • Get Discount

5. Meta Red Flags to Avoid

Want your template approved fast? Then don’t trigger Meta’s filters. Here’s what to avoid:

  • ALL CAPS or too many '❗❗❗'
  • Too many emboldened words in the body
  • Clickbait or exaggerated claims
  • False urgency (don’t lie about low stock)
  • Misleading discounts or bait-and-switch

Meta wants clean, honest communication. Stick to the facts, and you’ll be fine.

Bad: Too Vague

“Hey, we have a sale. Check it out. Some items are cheaper. Click here.”
